QUESTION: Will I see noticeably worse performance with the Monkey King than the Joseph II if used closer than 32″ from a monitor?
ANSWER: Sitting closer than 32” with the 240Hz sensor may be problematic when you lean in to look at your gauges, or get up on the gun sight, looking at the floor, etc. Your head and tracker may move out of the view window of the sensor and interrupt tracking. The 60Hz sensor is optimized for sim pilots and drivers who sit close to their monitor, but want to enjoy all the range of motion that 240Hz sensor users enjoy that use wheels, yokes, and/or sim cockpits.

Head tracking in flight simulators offers many benefits that increase immersion:
- Enhanced Immersion: Head tracking allows pilots to look around the cockpit and the environment naturally, creating a more immersive and realistic experience.
- Improved Situational Awareness: Pilots can seamlessly scan the skies, focus on waypoints, and navigate complex flight paths with precision and ease.
- Hands-Free Operation: It enables pilots to perform tasks without the need for manual input, like hat switches and mouse looking, which is particularly useful during critical phases of flight.
- Increased Precision: Combining head and eye tracking creates a unified interaction with the in-game camera, resulting in a more precise and natural control.
These benefits make head tracking a valuable addition to driving and flight simulators, enhancing both the realism and functionality of the simulation.
The Puck
The Puck IR has a twist-on battery cover and is our flagship model whose ancestry can be traced back to a tobacco snuff can, some bendy straws and LEDs from Radio Shack.
The Puck has superior light pollution tolerance compared to reflector type head trackers.
The Puck IR wireless head tracker is made to last and less than half the price of TrackIR head tracking that requires a cord.
It’s a brilliant VR solution for streamers and content creators.
The Odyssey
The Odyssey IR operates just like the Puck IR, but in a different style. The Puck has a twist-on battery cover and the Odyssey has a snap-on battery cover.
They’re both superior to VR for simulators requiring up to dozens of input commands when you absolutely must be able to see the keyboard and gaming peripherals.
